The teabag installation was a collaboration with photographer Kaitlyn Clark. The concept behind the work was loosely based on the popularity of the Tea Party extremists within the Republican Party. The rampant ignorance and hate born out of this movement was juxtaposed with the symbology of tranquility and civility that is often associated with drinking tea. The actual physicality and nature of the work is time-based deterioration and decay. What we have left are remnants/stains of a prior existing substance. The lack of substance and integrity within our existing American political parties leaves a psychological stain on our collective consciousness... The meaning and idea of civility itself is stained with some form of perversity from culture to culture. After all, we are children of the last civil empire. The British Empire...civil savages...The Boston Tea Party...on and on it goes...back in time...back to history....
